When we think about vacations around October & November, we begin to think of white sandy beaches & hot steamy sun. In an attempt to “mix it up”, I decided to take some vacation time and explore this beautiful land we call home!
The journey to Jasper was the later portion of our trip but don’t worry; I will be sharing the whole trip with you! I would apologize for all the scenic pictures but they are so beautiful I had to share! ( Trust me- I have never taken this many pictures of mountains in my life)
My maman & I were staying in Calgary with family so we made the journey past Banff and Lake Louise through Banff National Park to make our way to the Icefields Parkway. This is basically one main highway that you follow for hours until you arrive in Jasper. The total trip should have taken 5 hours roughly but we kept pulling off the road to take pictures.
The views were breathtaking. You can see that the water sometimes was as blue as it may be in the Mediterranean.
Let me tell you- it is nice to escape the city, take a hike & breathe in cool mountain air. The weather was unpredictable throughout the whole drive. We would be driving & it would be raining, then further down the road it was sunny and past that it would be snowing. Luckily, I had picked up this Joe Fresh Puffer Jacket! It is down filled so it kept me toasty warm AND folded away into a small attached bag (so it worked like a mini pillow too 😉 )
You can see through these mountain pictures one windy highway- that is Icefields Parkway. I would give you some quote about a journey and a windy road- but all I really have to say is that I would highly recommend this drive! It is full of beautiful scenery; one of the most breathtaking drives you will probably ever take. It was so great to be able to drive and enjoy our country for it’s natural beauty!
[Never miss a chance for a roadside photoshoot, right?]

We didn’t see many animals on the drive into Jasper… Keep checking back this week to see more of my #explorealberta journey!
